Our Techniques

“The power that made the body heals the body.” –BJ Palmer

We have studied and mastered a number of chiropractic techniques in order to meet your needs. With this being said, we often have patients who have experienced a particular type of adjustment in the past and as a result of our extensive education of chiropractic techniques, we are able to deliver what you are looking for and more. Therefore, please read the following in order to learn about the techniques which we use most often:

Activator: This technique is one of the most popular "low force" approaches to chiropractic in the world. The reason this is the case is because we use an adjustment instrument called The Activator Methods® Adjusting Instrument, which is a handheld spring-loaded tool that delivers a consistent low-force, high-speed thrust. This is extremely beneficial for elbows, wrists, knees, and other joints of the body.

Cold Laser:  This technique is the use of therapeutic (or cold) laser light to provide relief from pain, eliminate inflammation (swelling) or to repair damaged tissues. Cold Laser Therapy uses low intensity laser light energy to stimulate cells through a number of known cellular pathways in order to encourage tissue healing.

Cox Flexion-Distraction: This is a gentle, non-force approach utilizing a special table. The movements of this table help traction the spine, opening up compressed spinal discs and reducing pressure on facet joints of the spine. This highly-effective technique offers a conservative resolution of low back and leg pain that often averts the need for surgery. We find it powerfully effective. Patients find it surprisingly gentle and ask to take the table home.

Diversified: One of the techniques that we use out the practice is the most commonly used adjustment technique by chiropractors as it is characterized by a high velocity low amplitude thrust. Diversified is considered the most generic chiropractic manipulative technique and is differentiated from other techniques in that its objective is to restore proper movement and alignment of spine and joint dysfunction. This form of spinal manipulation consists of a short, fast force applied to the specific joints to instill motion, stretch surrounding muscles, and stimulate the nervous system. Diversified adjustments use a specific line of manual thrust that goes deep into the joint. This corrects mechanical distortions of the spine or joint within the joint cavity and also stretches the soft tissue which may have formed around the misaligned joint. By adjusting the spine or joint, and thrusting it into its proper position, the fluids and tissue move more freely and are distributed properly within the joint, which can ease pain and discomfort. There are extensive research studies that prove the efficacy, safety, and effectiveness of the chiropractic adjustment.

Extremity Adjusting: We recognize that treatment of the whole body requires synchrony between the nervous system and the mechanical control system of the kinetic chain. Subluxations of any joint have both neurological and mechanical components.

Many patients suffer repetitive subluxations and nerve entrapments because the mechanical component is ignored, leaving root causes undiscovered and untreated. The goal of extremity adjusting is to easily diagnose and treat these injuries, incorporating both neurological and mechanical treatments.

Mechanoreceptors are embedded in the tissues surrounding joints. When these tissues get stretched by a misalignment of the joint, this activates an inhibition or weakening of the adjacent muscle. Discovery of these weak muscles and correction of the misaligned joint to restore normal strength is a specialty of this technique.

Graston Technique®:  Graston Technique® is used for injury treatment and rehabilitation as an advanced method to decrease pain and improve function.  The benefit of the Graston Technique® is not only in detection of restrictions or adhesions, but also in the amount of improvement that takes place in a short amount of time. Trigger Point: Trigger points are accumulations of waste products around a nerve receptor. Often times they feel like nodules or taut bands of fibers within the soft tissues. Trigger points form in muscles which have been overused or injured due to an accident or surgery. Common characteristics are increased muscle tension and muscle shortening. Increased muscle tension is the primary side-effect of trigger points and pain is the most common secondary effect.

It is common to find great improvement after one treatment. Repeated treatment may be necessary for those with chronic trigger points. Stretching should be done as "home work" to encourage the muscles that have been treated to stay in a lengthened position.

Like we mentioned above, if you have been exposed to a specific technique that you enjoy please make us aware so that we can deliver the type of results that you DESERVE!
